Our Frankincense finds its home in India and along the Punjab region extending all the way to Pakistan. In Ancient Egypt Queen Hatshepsut temple (circa 1458 BC) depicts the robust Frankincense trade. It was traded in North Africa on the Arabian Peninsula with Somalia for over 5000 years. It has been used as consecrated incense in a myriad of religious rites and perfumed sanctuaries. Its always has an aura of spirituality around it and has been an emblem of prayer and a symbol of the divine name. They would have to harvest the gum with great care and employ a smoking out technique as poisonous snakes haunted the trees. The trade in Frankincense flourished along the “Incense Road” –from Arabia to India and beyond.
